Product Scope: Concept
Design and develop a touch sensitive bedside reading lamp that can be mounted to the wall or bed frame. The angle and lumens of the light must be adjustable depending on the users needs.

Assembly Exploration & Concept Refinement
Using our in house 3D printer I was able to turn my preliminary CAD model into a working sample. I deconstructed an existing touch sensitive 70-100 lumen reading light and installed it into the 3D print with a diffused acrylic cover. I had several coworkers take this home for testing purposes and report back their overall experience.
Refinement
Engineering Adjustments
The initial feedback from the group suggested that 80 lumens was sufficient enough for reading in the dark. Most users also preferred to have this swivel beyond 180 degrees so this light could serve as a small room lamp. I shared this information with our manufacturers who made these adjustments and created a refined prototype shown below.
